Born into a military family in Virginia, Ms. Howe spent her formative years all over the world including Europe and the Far East. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a cognate in anthropology from the University of South Carolina, graduating magna cum laude. She is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Ms. Howe has been with the University of South Carolina for more than 21 years holding administrative positions with the School of Nursing and the College of Law in addition to her service with the School of Medicine.

As administrative coordinator for the Associate Dean for Basic Science, Ms. Howe manages all financial aspects of grants administration including approval for purchases made with grant funds. She also provides         administrative support to the associate dean and facilitates the flow of information and communication between the associate dean’s office and other departments.
